 Introduction

Kuliyapitiya – East divisional Secretsry's division is spread in historical Dambadeni Kingdom in Kurunegala district in North Western Province. The extent is about 108.5 k.m. And the population ia about 56030. The historical relationship goes to the Panduwasnuwara Maha Parakramabahu era. There are evidences that the main route which goes to Puttalam & Chilaw coastal area is across the division. Ambalama  named panavitiya, Karagahagedara are today also alive and Ruwangirikanda Aranya Senasanaya is located in this division in East of the division. This is consists of 75 acres and about 08 monks are there. In fast, this was introduced as the name of “ Swarna Pabbatha , Rathnagiri Pabbatha ”.


The geographycal factors of this divisional secretary's division is very good for the agriculture. There are plenty of agricultural crops here and among them vegetables , fruits ,horticulture, estate cultivation and coconut cultivation is very important. And, there are many industries related to specially metal, bricks, clay pots and coconut. In addition to that, milk production is also a main item to create job opportunities. Nestle, Milco, Coconut traingle institutions buy milk production in the division. About 90% of farmers in the area cultivate paddy in two sesions.


A main town is not located in this division and the closest towns are Kuliyapitiya and Narammala. A part of Katupotha town belongs to this division.
The rural villages Bihalpola, Nakkawatta, Horombawa, Siyambalagaskotuwa, Galgammulla and Arakyala are developing speedily. There are 03 Govijana Sewa centers in this division and among them Horombawa is located in the division. Kithalawa and Wewagama Govijana Sewa centers are located in the Kuliyapitiya - West  divisional secretary's division.
In the division, From total population ,majority are Muslims and the amount is about  17324. Specially, they are businessmen. In addition, in this division, there is a village calles “ Manawa ” in Thalliyadda Grama Niladari division. There is a special community in Manawa village. They engage in industries based on canes and forcasting the future. But, today , they follow the modern life style and they are doing agriculture and getting the free education.
And, under the development projects of  “  Jathika Sawiya & Gama Neguma ” , the village is gettting more facilities. And there are skilled artists and clever players also.


Geographical Situation
Kuliyapitiya – East divisional secretary's division is situated in Kurunegala district in North Western province. The margins are Kuliyapitiya – West , Katupotha, Pannala and Narammala.  This ia a plain area and there are small mountains in certain places. This division is spread in the route of Madampe to Kurunegala.

 Water resources


There are some water roots in Deekirikewa, Barigoda, Ganangamuwa” Andigedara, etampola grama niladari division. Thalliyadda, Koduruwapola Grama Niladari divisions are in th above of Masurankotte Wewa which is belongs Kuliyapitiya – West divisional secretary's division.  Masurankotte Wewa is consisit of 50 acres and there are several places to collect rain water also.

Soil

The soil is consist of red , yellow podsolic  and the soil of some areas are   grey in  colour. Red, brown soil is in  some areas.
